3 teens shot in Southside found near Railroad Park, Regions Field

Three teens shot Friday night in Birmingham’s Southside ran from the scene to the area near Railroad Park and Regions Field, police said.

Sgt. Lawrence Edmond said they believe the initial incident – which happened just after 9 p.m. – took place on Fourth Avenue South and 16th Street.

He said one group told police they were approached by someone in a large pickup truck who told them, “We got you now,” and then opened fire.

The victims fled, stopping in the 1600 block of First Avenue South near Regions Field and Railroad Park.

One of the victims was taken by friends into Regions Field to find help.

Further investigation revealed that two other teens also were shot. One of them was injured in the left leg and the other in the right leg.

Edmond said all three victims were taken to UAB Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The victims are ages 17 and 18.

Police are still trying to sort out details of the shooting. No arrests have been made.
