Gunfire at a Calera gas station left three people wounded Saturday night.

The shooting happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. at the Marathon on Highway 25, said Chief Dave Hyche.

Details are still unfolding, but the chief said it appears the shooting happened outside of the business.

Robbery is not believed to be the motive. He said the gunfire followed an argument.

The conditions of the victims weren’t yet available. They are all being transported to area hospitals.

The chief said some of the victims fled the scene and were located in other places.

Hyche said officers got a description of the suspect and quickly took him into custody in Montevallo. He is being taken to police headquarters for questioning.
