3 people wounded – 1 critically – in 2 separate Birmingham shootings
An investigation is underway after several shootings Thursday night in Birmingham.
The first incident happened at 6:47 p.m. outside Hong Kong Seafood at 1101 Third Ave. West.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service Battalion Chief Clay Hendon said a 45-year-old sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to UAB Hospital in critical condition.
The second and third shootings happened about 30 minutes later in the Smithfield and are possibly related to each other.
North Precinct officer responded at 7:29 p.m. to a report of a female shot in the 100 block of Ninth Ave. North. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Two minutes later, at 7:31 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting victim in the 200 block of Ninth Court North. His injuries are also believed to be non-life-threatening.
