3 more players agree to stay with Alabama basketball for next season

The Alabama men’s basketball roster for 2025-26 is taking shape.

The Crimson Tide has re-signed three more veterans: Aden Holloway, Latrell Wrightsell Jr. and Houston Mallette, Alabama’s collective Yea Alabama announced Saturday.

That’s in addition to Aiden Sherrell, whose return Yea Alabama announced earlier in the day.

Wrightsell and Mallette will need to get medical redshirts approved to play another season, but coach Nate Oats said during the season the Crimson Tide expects that to happen. Wrightsell missed most of the season after he tore his Achilles tendon during the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas back in November. Mallette also missed most of the season with an injury.

With Wrightsell, Mallette, Holloway and Sherrell confirmed to return, that means the Crimson Tide has nine scholarship spots taken as of about noon Saturday: Sherrell, Holloway, Wrightsell, Mallette; incoming freshmen London Jemison, Davion Hannah and Amari Allen; and incoming transfers Noah Williamson and Taylor Bol Bowen.

That leaves about four spots open for a few returners and some more transfer portal additions.

Of the players with remaining eligibility, Derrion Reid, Labaron Philon and Jarin Stevenson all have not yet made their intentions known for the 2025-26 season. Mouhamed Dioubate and Naas Cunningham both could have returned, but each decided to enter the transfer portal.

Mark Sears, Chris Youngblood, Grant Nelson and Clifford Omouryi, four of Alabama’s five starters this past season, exhausted their eligibility.
