3 hospitalized following flash fire at ACIPCO in Birmingham
Three people were taken to the hospital following a New Year’s Eve morning flash fire at ACIPCO.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service was dispatched to 2798 16th Ave. North on a report of an industrial accidents, confirmed Battalion Chief Tobias Jones.
They arrived to find three victims involved with the flash fire.
A flash fire is a sudden, intense fire caused by ignition of a mixture of air and a dispersed flammable substance such as a solid, flammable or combustible liquid, or a flammable gas.
Jones said all three victims were taken to UAB Hospital. Two of the victims sustained second-degree burns to the face and body and were in stable condition when transported.
A third victim was taken to the hospital to be evaluated but showed no immediate signs of injury.
ACIPCO said those injured were not ACIPCO employees.
