3 Florida family members killed in crash with 18-wheeler near Alabama-Georgia state line

A Florida couple and their adult daughter died in a crash in Houston County on Saturday when their SUV crossed the interstate and collided with an 18-wheeler, the county’s coroner confirmed.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency identified the victims as Alan David Waller, 74, Marian Diane Myrick Waller, 71, both of Floral, Fla., and Carrie Christine Stone, 49, of Inverness, Fla.

The family was driving on County Road 95 and crossed two lanes of traffic across U.S. 84 in Gordon, Ala., near the Georgia line.

Once they got to the median, they proceeded to cross and the 18-wheeler headed east collided with their vehicle on the passenger side at about 12:15 p.m.

The 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer was driven by Tracy Deshon Williams, 48, of Tyler, Texas.

The three of them died upon impact, coroner Robert Byrd said.

“It’s extremely tragic, you’re talking about a mom, dad and daughter. And the daughter’s got children,” he said in an interview with AL.com.

“I just hate it for everybody involved, very sad.”
