An afternoon crash on a busy Center Point road sent five people – including three children – to the hospital.

The two-vehicle wreck happened on Highway 79 at Sunhill Road, said Center Point Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Brandon Dahlen.

One vehicle overturned and the driver was trapped. The patient was extricated and airlifted to UAB Hospital.

Another adult and three children were also hospitalized. The severity of the injuries wasn’t immediately known.
