3 charged with inciting a riot after brawl outside Pensacola bar

Two men and one woman have been charged as the instigators of a brawl outside a Pensacola bar in late November.

The incident took place outside Wild Greg’s on Palafox Street, according to WEAR. A police report obtained by the TV station says 21-year-old Manuel Castillo of Pensacola is seen in surveillance video walking up to a group of men outside the bar and start to throw punches.

Castillo struck one man in the face, knocking him to the ground, unconscious as Castillo then proceeded to kick the man in the face, according to the report. That man suffered two jaw fractures as a result.

The report states the two other suspects, identified as 21-year-old Shawnte Scott (address unknown) and 18-year-old Jayson Erving of Killeen, Texas, began fighting with multiple people, as seen in the video. Erving is seen punching someone in the face, which prompted a large-scale fight on the sidewalk which then spilled into the street.

“Manuel Castillo, Shawnte Scott and Jayson Erving willfully participated as the aggressors in a large, violent public disturbance,” police wrote in their report, “with multiple other unidentified suspects, acting with a common intent to assist each other in violence.”

Police also noted the brawl stopped traffic on Palafox Street and forced a large number of people walking along Palafox to divert away from the area. Multiple police units were also called to the scene, “preventing the further availability of law enforcement resources to the general public.”

Castillo, Scott and Erving are each charged with aggravated rioting causing great bodily harm, with Castillo additionally charged with aggravated battery, and simple assault. Bond for Scott and Erving was set at $5,000, while Castillo’s bond is $15,000.

As of Tuesday afternoon, all three remained in Escambia County (Fla.) Jail.
