3 charged after man kidnapped, bound, beaten with metal pipe in east Alabama

Three people have been charged in the kidnapping and assault of a north Alabama man who was bound and beaten with a metal pipe in Etowah County.

Timothy Baker, 49, and Brandy Click, 46, are charged with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree assault, said Sheriff Jonathon Horton. Amy Downing, 48, is charged with first-degree assault.

The victim’s name and age, who is from Guntersville, has not been released.

Horton said the incident happened in Etowah County’s Egypt community.

On July 29, the victim walked up to a residence asking for help. His hands were bound behind his back.

Charging documents state that the victim’s hands were bound and that he was struck multiple times with a metal pipe. The suspects then reportedly put him in the back of a truck and drove him to another location where he was let go, though his hands were still tied together.

Horton said the victim was first taken to a Gadsden hospital and then transferred to a Birmingham hospital where he underwent multiple surgeries for his injuries.

A motive has not been disclosed, but the sheriff said the suspects and the victim were acquaintances and that it was not a random attack.

Baker and Click are being held without bond in the Etowah County Detention Center.

Downing is being held in the Marshall County Jail pending extradition to Etowah County. Her bond will be set at $50,000.
