3 Alabama residents killed, 5 injured when van crashes into tree in Mississippi
Three Alabama residents were killed, and five others injured in a predawn passenger van crash in Mississippi.
The wreck happened at 4:50 a.m. Monday on Interstate 20 in Warren County.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper First Class Darnika Mayfield said the 2012 Ford E350 was traveling westbound when it ran off the road and collided with a tree.
Two of the passengers were pronounced dead on the scene. A third died at a hospital.
The driver sustained minor injuries, Mayfield said.
Four others were also hospitalized. The severity of their injuries was not immediately known.
Mayfield said all of the victims were from Cottondale. Their identities have not yet been released.
This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
