2nd suspect sought on capital murder charges in shooting deaths of 2 women at Hoover apartment
A search is ongoing for a second suspect wanted in the shooting deaths of two women inside a Hoover apartment earlier this month.
An’ton Je’horam Lewis, 20, is charged with capital murder in the slayings of Lauren Anne White, 39, and Blakely Meachelle Nelson, 24. Both women were found dead Saturday, Oct. 1, at The Park at Hoover.
Lewis, a convicted felon, is also wanted on two probation violation warrants after he pleaded guilty earlier this year to robberies that happened in 2018 and 2019.
Lewis is the second suspect charged in the double homicide. Daxton Elliot Keith, 21, of Alabaster, was previously arrested and remains held without bond.
Authorities have said the suspects were acquaintances of the victims.
Just before 8 a.m. that Saturday, Hoover 911 received a call from a person who reported finding two people possibly dead inside an apartment at The Park at Hoover. Officers arrived and found the unresponsive women.
White and Nelson, both of whom lived at the complex, were pronounced dead on the scene at 8:11 a.m.
Detectives took Keith into custody in the 9300 block of Highway 119 in Alabaster. The arrest was made about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Authorities are still searching for Lewis.
Lewis In January pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree robbery. In one of the cases, he robbed a man at gunpoint of $15, court records show, and in the second, he robbed a woman of her Jeep, also at gunpoint.
As part of is plea, Lewis was sentenced to 10 years in prison with 30 months to serve, followed by three years of probation.
On Oct. 5, Jefferson County prosecutors successfully sought to have Lewis’ probation revoked on the earlier convictions. Probation violation warrants remain active for him.
Keith pleaded guilty in 2021 to third-degree robbery. His probation was revoked in June of 2022 after a judge found he removed his electronic monitoring device.
Keith was arrested on the revocation charge Aug. 8 and held in the Jefferson County Jail until Aug. 31.
According to Nelson’s obituary, she was a graduate of Ohatchee High School and the mother of two daughters, ages 5 and 2.
“Blakeley loved her family, music, baking and visiting new places,’’ her obituary read. “She also loved to see others happy and smiling.”
