2nd suspect jailed in killing of Montgomery man who was followed home in robbery attempt
A second suspect has been taken into custody in the November killing of a man who was targeted for robbery, followed home and then shot.
Jaquon Houston, 21, is charged with murder and two counts of robbery in the Nov. 22, 2024, slaying of 33-year-old Marcelino Hernandez.
Houston was taken into custody on Friday, Montgomery police announced today.
He is being held without bond in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
Previously charged was 19-year-old Ja’Kyeri Kaleil McCovery.
Hernandez and two other men were in line at the Raceway gas station on Troy Highway that Friday when, police say, the suspects targeted them for robbery.
Houston and McCovery are accused of following them back to their homes. When they attempted to flee to safety inside their home, charging documents say, the suspects pointed a gun at them and demanded their valuables.
Hernandez was fatally shot when he refused.
Both men are also charged with robbery for the holdup of Hernandez’s two friends.
