2nd suspect charged in Tuscaloosa County killing during alleged marijuana sale
A second suspect has been charged in a deadly Tuscaloosa County shooting.
Justin Rubin, 22, is charged with murder in the Oct. 31 killing of 22-year-old Jaylin Reed, the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit announced Thursday.
Authorities previously announced the same charge at 20-year-old Tywann Long.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 6:30 a.m. that Tuesday to reports of a shooting on Timbertop Lane in the Fosters community.
A deputy who is also a licensed paramedic was first on the scene and tried unsuccessfully to save the victim.
Reed was pronounced dead on the scene.
Long was taken into custody later that night.
Long told investigators he went to the apartment complex to sell marijuana to Reed, according to charging documents. He said Reed pulled a gun and he then pulled his own gun and fired at him.
