2nd suspect charged in shooting outside Tin Roof in Birmingham’s Lakeview District

A second suspect is now behind bars on several felony charges in connection with the shooting Tin Roof in Birmingham’s Lakeview District.

Anthony Jonell Moore, 29, was booked into the Jefferson County Jail Monday night. He is charged with two counts of attempted murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Deandre Duran Moore, 35, was arrested last week on the same charges. Court records list the same home address for the two suspects.

Both remain jailed on bonds totaling $750,000 each.

The gunfire erupted about 12:45 a.m. Sunday, May 21, in the 2700 block of Seventh Avenue South.

An off-duty Birmingham police officer was working inside Tin Roof when someone ran into the bar and told him there had been a shooting outside.

More officers, as well as Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service, rushed to the scene.

First responders arrived to find a male shot and a female grazed by a bullet outside Tin Roof. The two were together that night, and both were transported to UAB Hospital.

The male victim is expected to recover. Police said gunshots were exchanged during a dispute in the parking lot.

An SUV fled the scene after the shooting. That vehicle was stopped on 21st Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues.

Inside the SUV were two males, both seriously injured. They, too, were taken to UAB Hospital.

Authorities said both suspects were the two men found wounded in the SUV.

Court records show Anthony Moore pleaded guilty in 2021 to discharging a firearm into an occupied building. An attempted murder charge against him was dismissed.

He was sentenced to 20 years in prison with three to serve. Jefferson County prosecutors are seeking to revoke his probation in the previous cases, saying his new charges violate his probation conditions.
