29-year-old motorcyclist killed in crash on I-359 in Tuscaloosa

A 29-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Tuscaloosa Tuesday night.

Tuscaloosa police identified the fatality victim as Alexander Chase Balentine. He lived in Greensboro.

The wreck happened at 8:09 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 359 near the Investigator Dornell Cousette exit.

Police spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor said Balentine was driving a TaoTao TBR7D motorcycle that was struck from behind by another vehicle. Balentine was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead on the scene.

The crash shut down that portion of I-359 for nearly six hours.

The police department’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating.
