Authorities have released the name of a Pell City man who was killed last week in a single-vehicle crash in St. Clair County.

Alabama State Troopers on Wednesday identified the fatality victim as Jacob S. Hawkins. He was 27.

The wreck happened at 2:27 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, on Florida Road, less than a mile north of Pell City.

Authorities said Hawkins was driving a Chevrolet Malibu that left the road, struck a culvert and then a tree. His car caught on fire, and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

The investigation is ongoing by troopers.
