27-year-old found shot to death in Dale County
An investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death Saturday morning in Dale County.
Ozark-Dale County E911 received a call about 9:15 a.m. of an unresponsive man in the 5500 block of County Road 33 in the Skipperville community, said Sheriff Mason Bynum.
When deputies arrived, they found 27-year-old Demarcus “Sam” McKenzie II, of Skipperville, dead on the scene from a gunshot wound.
McKenzie’s body is being taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
Sheriff’s investigators, along with Ozark police and crime scene technicians, are processing the scene. Bynum said ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation agents are also en route to assist.
The sheriff said they do have some “persons of interest” who are being interviewed.
Authorities are asking that anyone who was travelling in the area south of Highway 105 on County Road 33 and saw anything suspicious Saturday morning to call investigators at 334-774-5111. Tipsters can also remain anonymous by leaving a tip on the sheriff’s website at www.daleso.com.
