25 vintage Alabama photos that make you say ‘hmmmm…’
Sometimes while diving into rabbit holes looking for interesting story ideas, I come across something unusual. It may just be a small tidbit and not enough for an entire story but, still, you know how I hate to waste an odd tidbit.
About a decade ago, I came across a list of “photos that require explanation” and thought it would make an interesting to narrow the reach for photo feature for AL.com readers. As I learned then, searching our archives and the state archives for interesting photos is not as easy as it sounds. If you type “odd” or “weird” or “unusual” in the search bar, you’re likely to come up with no rabbits whatsoever, and probably not even anything “mysterious” or “creepy” or “cray-cray.”
Instead, I have to think of words that could potentially lead to an interesting photo, such as “costume” or “monkey” or “tightrope” or even “baby on a log.” And then sometimes, I just get lucky and come across an entire herd of rabbits. When I do, I save them up just for you because if you’re reading this, you’re the type of person who appreciates odd tidbits.
