24-year vet of Mobile County Sheriff’s Office charged with theft, forgery

A 24-year veteran of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is facing multiple counts of theft and forgery, the sheriff’s office has announced.

Sgt. Daniel Holifield, 49, was charged Tuesday with three counts of 1st degree theft of property and 10 counts of 2nd degree forgery.

Holifield was hired by the MCSO in December 1998. He was serving as the manager of the sheriff’s office Fleet Department.

According to the MCSO, Holifield is “cooperating with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office and its ongoing investigation,” and once their internal investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office.
