24-year-old Sumter County woman killed when car overturns in creek
An Alabama woman died in a Saturday afternoon wreck in Sumter County, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports.
According to information released Sunday by ALEA, 24-year-old Amber L. Scott of York “was fatally injured when the 2016 Toyota Avalon that she was driving left the roadway and struck a ditch before overturning in a creek.”
The ALEA report said Scott was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The single-vehicle mishap took place at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5. It happened north of York on Ala. 17 near mile marker 148, about two miles south of the Boyd community.
Troopers are investigating, according to the ALEA report.
