22-year-old shot to death inside Tuscaloosa apartment; suspect jailed
An overnight shooting in Tuscaloosa left one man dead and another jailed.
Tuscaloosa police were dispatched just after 11 p.m. Saturday to Creekwood Village Apartments at 1750 40th Avenue on a report of a shooting.
Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Marty Sellers said officers arrived to find 22-year-old Marquise Scott dead inside an apartment. He had been shot multiple times.
Investigators identified the suspect as 25-year-old LaGabriel Jones. After speaking with witnesses and Jones, they charged Jones with murder.
He is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond pending an Aniah’s Law bond hearing.
Sellers said Scott and Jones were acquaintances who had problems with one another in the past.
