22-year-old pedestrian struck, killed while walking on Skyland Boulevard in Tuscaloosa

A pedestrian was fatally struck in Tuscaloosa Thursday night.

Tuscaloosa police and fire medics responded to the 200 block of Skyland Boulevard East at 8 p.m.

The 22-year-old woman was unresponsive when first responders arrived. She was taken by Northstar EMS to DCH Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead a short time later, said police spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor.

The driver and passenger told investigators they were traveling west on Skyland Boulevard when the woman walked into the street. The woman, who lived in Fosters, had been at a nearby laundromat with family members.

TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit responded and is conducting the follow-up investigation. The unit investigates all traffic crashes involving serious injury or death.
