22-year-old indicted in 2022 DUI crash that killed 2, injured 1 in Walker County

A Walker County man has been indicted in a 2022 DUI crash that killed two people and injured a third person.

Lee Adrun Higginbotham is charged with two counts of reckless murder and one count of first-degree assault.

The wreck happened May 23, 2022, on Highway 269 in Parrish.

Killed were Brileigh Lanette Yahn, 21, of Fultondale, and Antony Jackson Franklin Whitworth, 22, of Jasper. A thirsd person, Alexia Danielle Wiggins, was injured.

A Walker County grand jury issued the indictments against Higginbotham, who lives in Parrish, on May 2. Parrish police officers took him into custody at his home Tuesday.

The indictment says Higginbotham was driving on the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic. It also states he was under the influence of “alcohol and/or cannabis and/or Hydrocodone and/or opiates and/or Oxycodone.”

Higginbotham remains held in the Walker County Jail.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency assisted in the investigation.

“I hope this arrest can somehow help in the healing process of losing family members in such a tragic way”, said Parris police Chief Danny Woodward.
