22-year-old charged in shooting at Hoover home that critically injured acquaintance

A Hoover man has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting at his home in Tuesday’s predawn hours.

The warrant was obtained Wednesday against David Paul Rogers, 22. He will be transferred from the Hoover City Jail to the Jefferson County Jail where he will be held on $60,000.

Police responded about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a shooting in the 2100 block of Kelly Lane.

Lt. Daniel Lowe said officers arrived to find the victim – an adult male – in the back yard. He had been shot several times.

The victim’s identity has not bee released. He remains in critical, but stable, condition at UAB Hospital.

Lowe said the investigation has led detectives to believe the suspect and victim were acquaintances and had known each other for some time.

“The victim was with the suspect on the back porch of the residence for a short period of time before their interaction soured and the suspect shot the victim numerous times,’’ Lowe said.
