A 21-year-old man was killed in Midfield’s first homicide of 2025.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as De’arrius Denard Starks. He lived in Midfield.

The shooting happened at 10:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Rayfield Drive.

Midfield Fire and Rescue Service was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:03 p.m.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.

Starks’ death marks the 21st homicide countywide this year.

No arrests have been announced.
