21-year-old killed in predawn shooting at Hueytown gas station
An early morning shooting at a Hueytown left a young man dead.
Authorities said the shooting happened at 1 a.m. Monday in the 2500 block of 19th Street North. Police had taped off the area around the Exxon gas station.
Romeo Bruce Bankhead, 21, was pronounced dead at 4:09 a.m. He lived in Bessemer.
No additional details surrounding the shooting have been released.
Bankhead is Hueytown’s third homicide this year, and the second in just over a week. Police on Monday said today’s homicide is not linked to last weekend’s shooting death of a 17-year-old boy.
In all of Jefferson County there have been 149 homicides including the three in Hueytown.
