2023 NFL leaders donât reach Alabama-roots records
During the 2023 NFL regular season, three players from Alabama high schools and colleges led the league in prominent statistical categories.
The NFL leaders with Alabama football roots included:
· Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry (Alabama), who led the NFL in rushing attempts for the fourth time in his career with 280.
· Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (West Alabama), who led the NFL in receiving yards with 1,799 and tied for the league lead with 13 touchdown receptions.
· Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama), who led the NFL in passing yards with 4,624.
But those league-leading numbers weren’t high enough to be the best in one NFL season by a player from an Alabama high school or college.
