2023 Academy Awards: Who is hosting the Oscars?

The 2023 Academy Awards are set for Sunday, March 12. The Oscars will be live streamed on fuboTV (free trial).

The Academy is bringing back a veteran to host the show.

Jimmy Kimmel will return as the host of this year’s Oscars after previously anchoring the show in 2017 and 2018. The 2017 show, of course, featured the “Moonlight” and “La La Land” debacle.

“Being invited to host the Oscars for a third time is either a great honor or a trap,” the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” host said in a press statement. “Either way, I am grateful to the Academy for asking me so quickly after everyone good said no.”

In a promotional video ahead of the Academy Awards, Kimmel received his hosting orders from “Top Gun: Maverick” stars Jon Hamm and Charles Parnell. The pair noted that ABC was looking for someone who was both “unflappable and unslappable,” a nod to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock last year.

The promo also stars actor and comedian Billy Crystal, a nine-time host of the Oscars.
