20-year-old Jefferson County Jail inmate dies at hospital
An inmate at the Jefferson County Jail died at the hospital after he was transported there from the downtown lockup.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the inmate as Isaiah Rashad Lowe. He was 20 and lived in Hoover.
Lowe had been an inmate at the jail since Dec. 5, 2022, when he was booked on charges of second-degree assault, assault with bodily fluids and third-degree criminal trespass.
On Monday morning, said Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates, Lowe was found inside his private cell showing symptoms of apparent medical complications. He was evaluated by the jail medical staff and immediately taken to UAB Hospital.
Lowe died at the hospital at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday.
An autopsy will be performed Wednesday to determine the cause and manner of death.
