20-year-old charged in deadly shooting at Railroad Park; victim’s identity still not confirmed

The suspect in the fatal shooting of another man in Railroad Park has been charged.

D’Quan Arnes Wilson, 20, is charged with murder, according to court records made public Thursday. The identity of the victim has not yet been confirmed.

Wilson was booked into the Jefferson County Jail Tuesday night and remains held without bond.

The shooting happened about 8:50 p.m. Sunday at the park in the 1600 block of First Avenue South. Officers working at and near the park heard shots fired and responded.

Lt. Ron Harless said the gunfire appeared to stem from an altercation between two men. The shooting took place near the park’s pavilion area right off First Avenue South.

The victim was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Wilson was taken into custody at the scene.
