An afternoon shooting at an east Birmingham motel left two people injured.

The gunfire erupted shortly after 1:30 p.m. at InTown Suites Extended Stay on Huffman Road.

Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said police arrived to find that one man had left the scene in a private vehicle. He was driven to a nearby fire station and then UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The second male victim remained on the scene. He was grazed and is being questioned by detectives.

Police said the shooting happened during a possible robbery.

No arrests have been made.
