Two women were killed when they were hit by a vehicle while pushing their disabled car across the Edmund Pettus Bridge.

The crash happened at 12:50 a.m. Sunday in Selma.

Dallas County Coroner Alan Dailey said three women were in a Honda Accord driving over the bridge when it broke down. Two of them got out to try to push the car, while the third – the daughter of one of the fatality victims – was behind the wheel steering.

Another Honda Accord then struck them from behind.

Natasha Blevins Hall, 44, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Ashley Lewis, 33, was airlifted to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, and then transferred to UAB Hospital in Birmingham where she died later the same day.

The driver who struck them remained on the scene. Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford said no criminal charges are expected.
