A missing 16-year-old Montgomery high school student has been found dead.

Michael Anthony Cole Jr. was pronounced dead at 10:51 p.m. Monday, according to court records.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency issued an emergency missing alert for Michael Anthony Cole Jr., a 16-year-old high school student, on Monday. On Tuesday morning, the agency canceled that alert.

ALEA did not give any reasoning for the alert being canceled. Montgomery police officials have not responded to a request for comment.

Central Alabama Crime Stoppers said Montgomery police would issue a statement later today.

Two suspects have been charged.

Nedvin Maynard Jones Jr., 18, and Nicholas Treyvon King-Sheppard, 18, are charged with felony murder.

Charging documents state that the suspects fired shots into an occupied dwelling, causing Michael’s death on Jan. 25, which is when Michael was reported missing.

Montgomery police responded that night at 8:43 p.m. to 3545 Gaston Avenue on a shooting call and they observed bullet damage.

Authorities have not said where Michael’s body was found.

Both suspects were booked into the Montgomery County Detention Center before 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Michael was last seen about 8:30 p.m. Jan. 25 in the area of Southmont Drive in Montgomery, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

On Monday night, Central Alabama Crime Stoppers had announced three Montgomery city members – Marche Johnson (District 3), Franetta Delayne Riley (District 4), and Oronde Mitchell (District 6) – are offering a joint $5,000 reward for any information that leads to Michael’s return. The reward will be paid through Crime Stoppers.

“Anytime that a possible crime involves a child/teenager, we want to do everything possible to return them home safely,’’ Mitchell said. “We felt this missing person needed more attention and more people talking. We are hoping that the $5000 reward that is being offered will help bring this young man home.”
