2 siblings, grandmother wounded at Tarrant family gathering

A dispute at a family gathering in Tarrant left three people shot, including the grandmother who was hosting the event.

Tarrant police were dispatched shortly before 7 p.m. to a residence in the 1800 block of Enfield Street.

Police Chief Wendell Major said the ordeal began with a dispute between two female siblings, both adults. A gun was brandished during the argument, which led to the sisters being shot, as well as their grandmother, who was not involved in the dispute.

One of the victims was taken by private vehicle to UAB Hospital. The other sibling and the grandmother were taken by ambulance to UAB Hospital.

Major said their injuries don’t appear to be life threatening.

The chief said it wasn’t immediately clear who fired the shots. “We’ve got detectives trying to piece together what happened,’’ Major said.
