Two out-of-state drivers were killed in an early Saturday morning accident on Interstate 65, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The accident occurred about 4:16 a.m. on I-65 about 12 miles south of Atmore, ALEA said.

A 2017 Nissan Pathfinder driven by 29-year-old Augustine R. Beene of Livingston, Texas, and a 2023 Kia Niro driven by 49-year-old Antonio L. Minniefield of Decatur, Ga., collided head-on.

Both Beene and Minniefield were pronounced dead at the scene.

ALEA continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
