Two young men were killed Thursday in separate motorcycle crashes in the Birmingham area.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the fatality victims as Howard Lee III, 21, and Joshua Scott Vann, 23.

Authorities said Lee, of Birmingham, was involved in a two-vehicle wreck at 3 p.m. Thursday on 10th Avenue South at 14th Street South. He was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:58 p.m.

UAB police are investigating.

Vann, who lived in Warrior, crashed about 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Bivens Brookside Road. According to law enforcement radio traffic, Joshua Scott Vann lost control off his motorcycle and ended up in a creek below.

He was taken UAB Hospital in Birmingham where he was pronounced dead at 6:19 p.m.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding Vann’s wreck.
