2 more late season coaching changes in high school football
Elkmont High School football coach Chris Bunio resigned Monday, according to school principal Graham Aderholt.
Bunio was 4-4 in his second year at the Limestone County school. The Red Devils started the season 3-0 but have lost four of their last five games.
The team is idle this week. They finish the regular season at Colbert County on Oct. 27 and at St. John Paul II on Nov. 3. Elkmont is 2-3 in Class 3A, Region 8 play.
Elkmont was 1-9 in Bunio’s first season.
Bunio did not immediately return a ‘X’ direct message for comment. Aderholt did not expand on Bunio’s resignation.
In another coaching move, West Point coach Don Farley announced he would step down following the season. The Cullman Times first reported the move.
The paper said he announced the decision to his players on Monday.
West Point is currently 4-4 overall, 1-3 in Class 5A, Region 8. The Warriors play at East Limestone on Friday and finish the regular season at home against Brewer on Oct. 27.
Farley is 53-60 overall in his 11th season at West Point. He led the team to the playoffs five times.
Last week, Baldwin County public schools announced that Robertsdale head coach Kyle Stanford was relieved of his football duties but would continue as athletic director.
