2 men shot in Tuscaloosa County after confronting reckless drivers, officials say

Two men were shot in Tuscaloosa County Saturday night when authorities say they confronted a group of people who had been driving recklessly.

The shooting happened at 7 p.m. in the 6000 block of Cold Springs Road in Cottondale.

Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Jack Kennedy said the victims – ages 53 and 38 – were taken to the hospital. They are expected to survive.

Kennedy said all of the individuals involved in the incident were located and witnesses interviewed.

“After investigation, possible issues of self-defense were raised,’’ Kennedy said. “No charges have been brought at this time, but the investigation is ongoing, and charges are possible in the future.”
