An investigation is underway after two men were fatally shot in Montgomery overnight.

Police officials on Thursday identified the victims as Gregory Penick, 21, and Darnell Eaves, 19. Both lived in Montgomery.

Police Maj. Saba Coleman said officers and fire medics were dispatched at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 1300 block of Atlanta Highway on a report of a person shot.

When they arrived, they found Penick dead on the scene. Eaves was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Coleman said the circumstances remain under investigation.
