Two people are dead following a crash between two SUVs on Interstate 459 in Hoover.

The wreck happened shortly after 9:30 p.m. Friday on I-459 northbound, one south of the Highway 150 exit.

Hoover police Capt. Keith Czeskleba said one of the SUVs overturned. A man and a woman inside that SUV were pronounced dead.

The occupants of the other SUV sustained minor injuries.

That portion of the interstate is currently shut down while the investigation is ongoing.
