2 killed in crash between truck, car in north Alabama
A 55-year-old woman and a 71-year-old man were killed when the car they were in was struck by a truck and then hit a utility pole early Friday morning in north Alabama, authorities said.
Tammy W. Sawyer, 55, of Trinity, was driving a 2017 Toyota Corolla near Moulton, in Lawrence County, when the car was struck by a 2010 Dodge Dakota, said Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey.
After the initial impact, the Corolla left the roadway of Alabama State Route 157 and struck a utility pole, Bailey said.
Sawyer and her passenger, 71-year-old Bremen resident Jimmie R. Bailey, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near Alabama State Route 36, about six miles south of Moulton.
Further information was unavailable as state troopers continued investigating the wreck.
