2 killed after car hits tree in Winston County, authorities say
A driver and his passenger died Saturday morning when the car they were in left the highway and hit a tree in Winston County, authorities said Monday.
Refugio Sosa, 47, of Haleyville, was driving a 2001 Ford Mustang around 7:18 a.m. Saturday on Highway 278 when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree, said Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Cody Farrar.
Sosa and a passenger in the Mustang, identified as 50-year-old Haleyville resident Luis E. DeLion Castro, were pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck about five miles west of Double Springs, Farrar said.
Further information was unavailable as state troopers continued to investigate the wreck.
