2 killed, 2 injured in St. Clair County head-on crash
Two people were killed, and two others injured in a head-on crash in St. Clair County.
Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victims as Joyce A. Lowe, 73, and James E. Lowe Jr., 45. Both lived in Ashville.
The wreck happened at 6:35 p.m. Monday on U.S. 231 near Ivy Drive, about four miles north of Pell City.
Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey said James Lowe was the driver of a Jeep Patriot and Joyce Lowe was a passenger in that Jeep.
The Jeep collided head-on with a Crown Victoria driven by John K. Robinson, 39, of Ragland.
Joyce Lowe was pronounced dead on the scene. James Lowe was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham where he was pronounced dead.
Another passenger in the Jeep, 51-year-old Sabrina Lowe, was airlifted to UAB Hospital. Bailey said Sabrina Low was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Robinson, the driver of the Crown Victoria, was taken to Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Clair Hospital in Pell City. The seriousness of his injuries was not released.
The crash remains under investigation by troopers.
