2 killed, 1 injured in 2-vehicle crash in South Alabama
Two people died Friday afternoon, and one person was injured, in a crash in Covington County.
Senior Trooper Joshua Thompson of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said the incident happened at about 5:45 p.m. on Covington County 70 near Mary Williamson Road, approximately five miles northeast of the Andalusia city limits.
Travis B. Duke, 37, of Andalusia, was driving a 2014 Dodge Charger. Christy D. Shaw, 20, of Headland, drove a 2025 Kia K4.
The two vehicles collided head-on, Thompson said, with the Charger overturning and the Kia K4 striking a ditch.
Duke and Shaw were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, and both were pronounced dead at the scene, Thompson said.
An 18-year-old passenger of the Kia was also injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
