Two people were taken to the hospital after an apparent accidental shooting in northern Birmingham.

Birmingham police and firefighters responded at 9:40 p.m. Sunday to a report of a double shooting at an apartment building in the 1600 block of Sixth Street North.

They arrived to find a male and a female wounded. They were taken to UAB Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the shooting appears to be accidental.
