2 Huntsville police officers, citizen reportedly shot
Two police officers and one citizen were shot Tuesday at an apartment complex in Huntsville, officials said.
The officers were hit by gunfire while responding to a call of shots fired at the complex on Governors House Drive, said Sydney Martin, a spokesperson for the Huntsville Police Department, in an email to news reporters. Martin said a “citizen” was also shot.
The extent of the victims’ injuries was not immediately known. A line of police cars was stationed outside Huntsville Hospital.
A “subject” is barricaded inside one of the apartments at the complex, according to police, and the incident remained ongoing Tuesday evening.
Residents were being evacuated from their homes at the apartment complex Tuesday evening.
Huntsville police and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office advised the public to avoid the area.
