2 from Alabama, 1 from Auburn up for NFLPA’s highest honor

Three of the five finalists for the NFL Players Association’s Alan Page Community Award have Alabama football roots.

The finalists announced on Tuesday for the NFLPA’s highest honor for the 2024 season included Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry (Alabama), Indianapolis Colts center Ryan Kelly (Alabama) and New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton (Auburn) as well as Minnesota Vikings safety Camryn Bynum and New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis.

Each finalist will receive a $10,000 donation from the NFLPA for his foundation or charity of choice. The winner will receiver an additional donation of $100,000.

The finalists were chosen from the 18 weekly Community MVPs named throughout the 2024 regular season by the NFLPA.

Henry was the Week 10 Community MVP after presenting 465 winter coats to the children at a Baltimore elementary school.

Kelly was the Week 13 Community MVP after hosting an event in Indianapolis for more than 300 families in partnership with Healthy Birth Day and its Count the Kicks campaign to provide pregnancy resources.

Slayton was the Week 16 Community MVP for his work with the Far Rockaway, Harlem and Bronx Giants football programs, which foster police-community relations through mentorship, tutoring and sports for 150 boys across 20 schools.

The winner of the award for the 2024 season will be announced at the NFLPA’s annual Super Bowl press conference at 11 a.m. CST Feb. 5 in New Orleans. NFL players will vote on the winner of the award.
