2 dead after fiery car crash near Hanceville
Two people have died after a Saturday morning crash in Alabama.
According to state troopers, 22-year-old Sydni Helms of Jasper and an unknown individual were pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle crash that occurred eight miles south of Hanceville on Alabama 91.
The crash took place around 5:30 a.m., according to a news release from Senior Trooper Justin O’Neal, a spokesman for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

According to O’Neal, Helms was driving a Jeep Wrangler that collided head-on with a Chrysler 300. Both vehicles caught fire.
The identity of the Chrysler driver is unknown and is currently pending identification by Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, according to a release.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division is continuing to investigate the incident.
