2 charged with capital murder of man found shot dead inside crashed car on Birmingham street
Two suspects have been charged in the shooting of a man who was found dead in his crashed car in Birmingham last month.
Raymond Simpson, 31, and Ricky Bell, 56, are charged with capital murder in the Nov. 17 killing of Anthony Cornelius Blount Jr.
Blount was 45 and lived in Hoover.
Police were dispatched at 10:49 p.m. that Thursday to a Shot Spotter call in the 1000 block of Second Court West.
When they arrived, they found Blount unresponsive inside a car that had hit a parked vehicle in the roadway.
Blount was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:10 p.m.

Residents in the neighborhood said they heard about six shots.
Officer Truman Fitzgerald previously said investigators believe the victim was driving on Second Court when someone opened fire on him.
Detectives obtained the capital murder warrants on Nov. 2. The charge is capital because the victim was shot while he was inside a vehicle.
Simpson, of Birmingham was taken into custody Dec. in the South Park Road area after he was involved in a high-speed chase with police. The chase was initiated after officers spotted Simpson driving a stolen vehicle.
Bell, of Marion, was arrested Wednesday by West Precinct officers. He was taken into custody near the area of Princeton Baptist Medical Center after officers saw him getting out of a vehicle and knew he was wanted for capital murder.
Both are being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail.
