2 charged in weekend Tuscaloosa shooting that seriously injured 31-year-old man

Two people are behind bars in a weekend shooting in Tuscaloosa that left a man with serious injuries.

Tuscaloosa police responded at 3:30 a.m. Sunday to a 911 call from the 31-year-old victim reporting that he had been shot.

The man told authorities he’d been shot at Creekwood Village Apartments in the 1700 block of 40th Avenue in Tuscaloosa.

After being wounded, said Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Marty Sellers, the victim ran to Westgate Apartments where he made the 911 call.

The victim had been shot multiple times, Sellers said. He is in serious but stable condition.

Tanesha Thomas, 32, and David Waller II, 20, are charged with attempted murder. Both live in Tuscaloosa.

The victim and the suspects had an ongoing issue which culminated in the shooting on Sunday morning, Sellers said.

Both remain held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail.

Thomas’s bond is set at $30,000 Waller is being held on $60,000 bond which also includes other theft charges, jail records show.
